Vets for Freedom Ad to Obama: Acknowledge the Surge’s Success

Pro-surge veterans group Vets for Freedom has come out with a new TV ad calling on Barack Obama to acknowledge that the Iraq troop surge has worked.

The group is calling on Obama to support Sen. Joe Lieberman’s (I-Conn.) resolution “recognizing the strategic success of the troop surge in Iraq and expressing gratitude to the members of the United States Armed Forces who made that success possible.”

Obama has argued this summer that the surge has reduced violence in Iraq but has failed to “solve the broader strategic question” of withdrawing from Iraq and shifting resources to Afghanistan.

Vets for Freedom says it will spend $7 million advocating for Lieberman’s bill. Watch the ad here.
