Palin Rarely Cited on House, Senate Floors
Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s (R) name has only been cited three times in the Congressional Record since the beginning of 2007.
Two of the Palin references highlight policy differences with Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), including her support for drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and her endorsement of the Democrats’ bill to reauthorizate the State Children’s Health Insurance Program.
The third reference occured when Sen. Sam Brownback (R-Kan.) praised Palin in April for giving birth to “a child named Trig, who happens to be a Down syndrome child.”
He cited what Palin said at the time: “Trig is beautiful and already adored by us. We knew through early testings he would face special challenges, and we feel privileged that God would entrust us with this gift and allow us unspeakable joy as he entered our lives. We have faith that every baby is created for good purpose and has potential to make this world a better place.”
Brownback added, “What a great thought for all of us.”
