McCain’s First Stop After GOP Convention: Michigan
John McCain will head to Michigan on Sept. 5, the day after he’ll accept the Republican presidential nomination at the party’s convention in St. Paul, Minn., the Detroit Free Press reports.
McCain and his yet-to-be-named running mate will hold a campaign event in Sterling Heights, which is near Detroit.
Barack Obama and his running mate, Sen. Joe Biden (D-Del.), are scheduled to stop in Michigan on Monday. It’s part of the Democratic ticket’s post-convention tour of swing states.
There’s no word yet on whether former Massachusetts governor and Michigan native Mitt Romney (R) will join McCain during the Michigan swing. Romney is considered to be a possible GOP vice presidential candidate.
