Red Sox, Patriots Booed at Convention
Before casting 52 of her state’s votes for Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) and 65 for Barack Obama at the Democratic National Convention in Denver, the chair of Massachusetts’s delegation introduced her state as “home of the winning Boston Red Sox…and the winning New England Patriots.”
The convention crowd, delegates and spectators included, booed the Sox and Patriots vociferously.
The Boston Celtics, also mentioned, received a less enthusiastic boo.
The Massachusetts chair’s mention of ailing Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.), moments earlier, eilicited a rousing cheer.
