Reid to Lieberman: I Can’t Stand McCain

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) is not known to mince words.

And so when Sen. Joe Lieberman (Conn.) informed him this week that he would speak at the Republican National Convention, he told the Independent what he really thought about Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz).

“I told him last night, ‘You know, Joe, I can’t stand John McCain,'” Reid told the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Lieberman told Reid, “‘I know you feel that way.'”

Reid also told the newspaper that he thought Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) may make an unexpected choice as a running mate.

“I think there are other people in the running, and I think we could be surprised,” he said.

Reid said he told Obama who not to choose as a running mate, but he wouldn’t specify who made that list.
