Poll: 41 Percent Think Bush Is Worst President Ever
Roughly two out of every five Americans believe President George W. Bush will go down in history as the worst ever, according to a new poll conducted by Rasmussen. Half of those polled disagreed.
Not surprisingly Democrats and Republicans were split on the question. 69 percent of Democrats believe Bush will hold the title of worst ever while only 9 percent of Republicans do. 37 percent of unaffiliated voters rank Bush as the worst.
63 percent said Bush will most be remembered for the war in Iraq while 23 percent said the president will best be remembered for his response to the September 11 terrorist attacks. Only 6 percent said Bush will be remembered for his handling of the economy, another 2 percent said he will be best known for his young conservative appointments to the Supreme Court.
Despite John McCain’s past rifts with Bush, only 7 percent of likely McCain voters rank Bush at the bottom, with 86 percent saying a different commander in chief deserves the ranking. Nearly seven in ten likely Barack Obama voters believe Bush is the all time worst.
Bush’s current approval rating stands at just below 30 percent, according to the RealClearPolitics average.
