Giuliani Denies He’s on VP Short List, But Pushes A Choice to Fight Terror
Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani (R) said he’s not on John McCain’s short list of possible running mates, but he suggested that McCain choose someone who can fight terrorism.
“He needs the same thing any presidential candidate needs,” Giuliani said on NBC Tuesday. “He needs someone who can be president of the United States, particularly in the times that we live in: threat of terrorism, the significant problems we face in foreign policy, domestic policy. You need someone who can step right in where the American people will accept that person as being just as qualified as the presidential candidate.”
He added that Barack Obama should also use the same criteria.
When MSNBC’s David Gregory asked Giuliani whether he would like to be on McCain’s short list, the New Yorker said, “I am not on the short list. I don’t want to be on that short list but I think Sen. McCain has some excellent choices.”
