Rangel Will ‘Take Another Look’ at Questioned Apartments
Rep. Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.) says he will “have to take another look” at the use of a rent-stabilized apartment in Harlem as a campaign office.
The New York Times reported Friday morning that he has been using a rent-stabilized apartment in Harlem as a campaign office in violation of New York State and City regulations, which say that the apartments must be used as primary places of residence.
During a press conference held Friday afternoon, Rangel said he is “evaluating the use of one of the four apartments as a campaign office” and that if the use of the office is improper he will “go to another place and get a different office. Period.”
