Dodd Being Vetted, Clinton Is Not

Sen. Chris Dodd (D-Conn.) confirmed this week that he is being vetted by Barack Obama’s vice presidential search committee. Howard Wolfson, the former spokesman for Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton’s (D-N.Y.) presidential campaign, meanwhile, said Clinton is not.

“There’s been some inquiries, yeah,” Dodd confirmed to the AP. “They ask for a lot of stuff. I’ll leave it there.”

Dodd ended his own presidential bid in January. Since endorsing Obama in February, Dodd has been one of the Illinois Senator’s top surrogates, but many think a mortgage lending scandal involving Countrywide Inc. will prevent him from getting picked.

When Wolfson was asked on Fox Thursday if Clinton was being he said, “not as far as I know.”

Wolfson added though that “there is more information available about Hillary in the public record than just about any other public figure in America.” All that public information “may be sufficient for [Obama] to make whatever decision he wants to make,” Wolfson said.
