XM Radio to Cover Conventions 24/7, Commercial Free
XM Satellite radio will offer constant, 24-hour, commercial-free coverage of the Democratic and Republican conventions this August on its presidential election channel, POTUS ’08, the company announced today.
The channel has broadcasted 24/7 coverage of the presidential race and other races of interest since September 2007. At the conventions, it will recap the each day’s activities at night until the conventions reconvene the following day.
“While other media outlets are only carrying the primetime speeches, we will air everything that’s happening on the podium throughout the day,” XM Senior Vice President of News, Sports, and Talk Programming Kevin Straley said today. “We’ll be talking to everybody from the insiders working behind the scenes to protestors outside the arenas. We’re live from the opening gavel to the final speeches by Barack Obama and John McCain. And there will be no commercial interruptions.”
