DCCC Sets Aside $2.1 Million for Ads in Fossella’s NYC District

Democrats plan to go hard after retiring Rep. Vito Fossella’s (R-N.Y.) this year.

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) has set aside $2.1 million for television ads in New York City, whose other congressional districts are held by Democrats.

Local Democrats and the DCCC have endorsed City Councilman Mike McMahon for the seat over 2006 Democratic nominee Stephen Harrison. The front-runner for the GOP nomination, Francis Powers, died this week.

The DCCC said it has reserved $667,000 for ads targeting Rep. Marilyn Musgrave (R-Colo.) and $1.2 million to help retain the seat of retiring Rep. Darlene Hooley (D-Ore.).
