MoveOn Considering Closing Its 527 Voter Fund
Now that Barack Obama will rely on small donors to fund his presidential campaign, MoveOn.org is considering closing its 527 voter fund.
MoveOn Executive Director Eli Pariser said that the fund, often used to pay for ads critical of President Bush’s Iraq war policies, has been able to accept the big money contributions that Obama has decried.
“We haven’t actually taken any big-money checks since 2004, when MoveOn members matched big contributors to educate voters about George Bush’s policies,” Pariser wrote. “But in light of the new politics offered by Barack Obama, I’ve come to believe it’s time to close the 527 forever
