61 Percent Say Candidates’ Wives Influence Their Votes
A new Rasmussen poll finds that 61 percent of likely voters say presidential candidates’ wives are at least somewhat important to how they vote.
The two potential first ladies–Cindy McCain and Michelle Obama–have similar favorability ratings (49 percent and 48 percent, respectively), but Obama is much more controversial, according to the same poll.
Obama received an “unfavorable” rating from 42 percent of those polled, while McCain received the same rating from 29 percent. The poll found that 25 percent of likely voters view Obama as “highly unfavorable,” while 17 percent hold McCain in the same regard.
Rasmussen surveyed 1,000 likely voters yesterday for the poll.
