Laura Bush Praises Clinton’s Strength, Defends Michelle Obama
First Lady Laura Bush had some kind words for the two Democratic women at the center of this year’s presidential campaign.
Bush, in an interview with ABC, said that she admired Hillary Clinton’s “grit and strength.”
“And I know what it’s like to run [in] campaigns, and so I’ll have to say I have a lot of admiration for her endurance,” Bush said.
She added, however that she wants the first woman president to be a Republican.
When asked about Michelle Obama’s remark about being proud of her country “for the first time” as an adult, the first lady said Obama “probably meant ‘more proud.'”
