Rep. Waters Switches Support to Obama
Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.), a former backer of Hillary Clinton, switched her support today and endorsed Barack Obama for president.
Waters initially endorsed Clinton in January, citing Clinton’s leadership abilities and experience. Today Waters acknowledged Clinton as a candidate “outspoken on issues critical to women and children,” but said the country needs Obama’s agenda of change and unity.
“Our nation is at crossroads,” Waters said in a statement released through Obama’s campaign. “Now is the time for us to unite so that real change is possible in November. Today, I am endorsing Senator Barack Obama because I firmly believe that he embodies the judgment and conviction necessary to bring about change that will make a difference in the lives of all Americans.”
