Tester Says He’ll Endorse Tonight

Sen. Jon Tester (D-Mont.) said he’ll announce which presidential candidate he’s backing after his home state reports its primary results tonight.

Tester was asked about his endorsement on MSNBC. He called on both candidates to help unify the party as soon as the Democratic nomination is decided.

“Well, I mean, what I think is going to happen is, you know, if indeed it is Sen. [Hillary] Clinton that bows out of this race, I think what she says — or if it’s the other way around, the same goes true — what either one of these candidates say when they endorse over is going to be critically important as far as the party coming together and how hard they work after this primary is over with to get the other person elected is going to be important,” Tester said.

“And I think there’s a lot of people out there, in Montana included, that have high respect for Sen. [Barack] Obama and Sen. Clinton, and how they respond to bowing out of this race is going to be critically important as far as how the party comes together.”
