HRC To Superdelegates: Ask Who’d Be Stronger Against McCain

Hillary Clinton during a Friday conference call didn’t disagree with Democratic leaders’ push for superdelegates to make up their minds next week. But the Senator from New York said that superdelegates should consider who will be the stronger candidate and president before deciding.

Here’s her full remarks on superdelegates from the call:

Well, I think that after the final primaries, people are going to start making up their minds. I think that’s the natural progression that one would expect.

And what I’m hoping is that delegates, including the so-called superdelegates, will ask themselves who they think is the better president to be our commander in chief and to turn the economy around, and who would be the stronger candidate against Sen. McCain.

When [Red Lodge] Mayor [Betsy] Scanlin introduced me, she referenced what is becoming quite discussed, which is my stronger position in the general election in November against Senator McCain, in terms of the states that I’ve won and the states where I’m leading and the number of electoral votes that those states total up to, which is the magic number of 270.

So I think that people have to ask themselves those questions: Who would be the best president, in terms of preparation and readiness and effectiveness, and who would be the stronger candidate? And I imagine that process will begin after the end of the last primaries.
