Survey: More Bar Patrons Want to Have a Beer with Obama
More bar patrons want to have a beer with Barack Obama than any other candidate, according to a survey conducted by the Racepoint Group, a San Francisco-based media firm, on behalf of Rock the Vote.
When asked, 29 percent of those surveyed said they would like to have a beer with Obama; 22 percent, Clinton; 2o percent, John McCain; and 29 percent, none of the above.
The survey of 72,000 bar-goers also found that the Democratic Party “rocks” more than the Republican Party in the eyes of America’s bar patrons; the Democratic Party collected 34 percent of positive responses to the GOP’s 18 percent. (The GOP tied with “Independent Party” and lost to “don’t know/other.”)
Some pundits credited President George W. Bush’s 2000 victory over Vice President Al Gore to Americans wanting to have a beer with Bush more than Gore.
