McCain to Release Medical Records
The John McCain campaign will allow very tight access to the 71-year-old senator’s medical records to an exclusive group of news outlets Friday.
From 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. reporters from only a small contingent of major networks and newspapers will be allowed access to the records in a conference room adjacent to the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale where McCain’s oncologist practices.
Up to two reporters from each outlet will be allowed to take notes of the 400 pages of records, but will not be allowed to make photocopies or remove any portion of McCain’s medical history.
At roughly the same time the campaign will post summaries of McCain’s medical history from 2000 to 2008 on the campaigns website, but will not include actual records or doctors’ notes.
Records prior to 2000 were released during McCain’s previous run for president, also to a small group.
Since that time McCain has been treated for Melanoma.
