Romney Forms PAC to Support McCain, GOP Candidates
Former GOP presidential contender Mitt Romney has launched a political action committee (PAC) to support John McCain and other GOP candidates.
The organization, called the Free and Strong America PAC, announced itself today with a list of GOP candidates it supports, with McCain topping the list. Also included are Rep. Tom Feeney (Fla.), Michele Bachmann (Minn.), Rep. Tom Price (Ga.), Rep. Connie Mack (Fla.), Rep. Joe Knollenberg (Mich.), Dean Andal (opposing Democratic Rep. Gerald McNerney in California’s 11th district), and Keith Fimian (seeking to replace retiring GOP Rep. Tom Davis in Virginia’s 11th district).
Romney has appeared at campaign events with McCain, and has said he would gladly accept the party’s vice presidential nomination.
“The PAC will support candidates running for all levels of office in the current 2008 cycle, starting at the top of the ticket with Republican presidential candidate John McCain,” the group’s release said.
The PAC is based in Boston; see its website here.
