Erickson Tops Mannix In Raw Oregon GOP House Primary

Mike Erickson defeated Kevin Mannix in a hard-fought Republican primary Tuesday in retiring Rep. Darlene Hooley’s (D-Ore.) district, The Hill’s Aaron Blake reports.

In the final days of the campaign, Mannix had accused Erickson of using drugs and paying for an abortion for a woman he allegedly impregnated.

Erickson, who lost to Hooley in 2006, will face Democratic state Sen. Kurt Schrader in the general election. Republicans have viewed the race in the Salem-area district as one of their few opportunities to take a seat away from Demcorats.
