Udall Up Big In N.M. Senate Race

Rep. Tom Udall (D-N.M.) leads both of his Republican rivals for the seat of retiring Sen. Pete Domenici (R) by at least two dozen percentage points in the latest SurveyUSA poll.

Udall leads Rep. Heather Wilson (R) 61 percent to 35 percent, while he leads Rep. Steve Pearce (R) 60 percent to 36 percent. Wilson and Pearce are in a tight primary for the Republican nomination, with Pearce receiving 49 percent of the support of likely primary voters and Wilson receiving 46 percent. Pearce’s lead, however, is within the 4.8 percent margin of error.

mcjoan at Daily Kos welcomes the surge of “true conservative” Pearce, who has gained 12 points against “moderate” Wilson since the last SurveyUSA poll six months ago.
