Edwards Endorses Obama at Michigan Rally
Appearing with Barack Obama at a rally in Michigan, John Edwards endorsed the Illinois senator for president this evening.
The former North Carolina senator began his speech as the crowd chanted Obama’s name.
“The reason I am here tonight is that the Democratic voters in America have made their choice, and so have I,” Edwards said. “There is one man who knows and understands that this is a timef for bold leadership. One man who knows how to create the lasting change. .. one man who knows in his heart that there is not one America, but two, and that man is Barack Obama.”
Before endorsing Obama, Edwards offered direct praise for Hillary Clinton. “She believes with every fiber of her being, she believes that America can be a better place,” Edwards said. “What she has shown is strength and character, and what drives her is something every one of us can and should appreciate.”
Edwards dropped out of the presidential race Jan. 30.
