Obama Camp to Launch 50-State Voter Registration Drive
Barack Obama’s campaign is scheduled to launch a 50-state voter registration drive tomorrow, holding 101 kickoff events across the country. The effort, entitled “Vote for Change, will last six months and will rely on volunteers to register new voters, according to the Obama campaign.
Pundits have credited Obama with drawing new primary voters to the polls, and the Obama campaign says recent registration drives have yielded 200,000 new registered voters in Pennsylvania, 165,000 in North Carolina, and 150,000 in Indiana. Obama lost Pennsylvania and Indiana’s primaries to Hillary Clinton, but won in North Carolina.
Obama will not attend any of the 101 kickoff events tomorrow, instead holding a town hall meeting in Bend, Oregon, according to his public schedule.
