Blog: Clark Urged Clinton To Drop Out
Gen. Wesley Clark, one of the earliest and most vocal supporters of Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign, has asked his candidate to leave the Democratic nomination race, according to AMERICAblog.
Clark, who is close to the Clintons from their time in Arkansas, called Clinton Tuesday night, when she lost the North Carolina primary to Barack Obama and barely won the Indiana primary, writes the blog, which hasn’t revealed its source.
AMERICAblog has been a long-time supporter of Clark, a 2004 Democratic presidential candidate. It once obtained his cell phone records without his knowledge in an effort to highlight privacy issues.
Since Tuesday’s races, Mark Halperin at The Page has been asking when Clark and other prominent Clinton supporters would call on her to end her bid. Halperin notes that former Sen. George McGovern (S.D.), the 1972 Democratic presidential nominee, has already switched his support from Clinton to Obama.
