Michael Moore for Obama

Filmmaker and conservative pariah Michael Moore has decided to back Barack Obama for president.

Moore, whose films have criticized supporters of the Iraq war, gun rights and the current healthcare system, wrote on his Web site that he decided to endorse after last week’s debate between Obama and Hillary Clinton.

Clinton’s attacks on Obama “have gone from being merely disappointing to downright disgusting,” Moore wrote.

“I’ve watched Sen. Clinton and her husband play this game of appealing to the worst side of white people, but last Wednesday, when she hurled the name ‘Farrakhan’ out of nowhere, well that’s when the silly season came to an early end for me,” he wrote.

Moore, a resident of Michigan, added that his decision to back Obama more about the grassroots energy Obama has generated instead of the candidate himself.

“What we are witnessing is not just a candidate but a profound, massive public movement for change,” Moore wrote.
