Campaign Update: Gerlach reportedly to run for GOV

The Allentown Morning Call’s Josh Drobnyk reports that Rep. Jim Gerlach (R-Pa.) could announce a run for governor as soon as today. This would leave one big, big open House seat.

Quinnipiac shows former U.S. attorney Chris Christie (R) extending his lead over Gov. Jon Corzine (D) to 53-41.

Rep. Mike Castle (R-Del.), who appears genuinely undecided about running for Senate, raised a relatively small $124,000 in the second quarter.

Rep. Elton Gallegly (R-Calif.) has an opponent after a lackluster fundraising quarter.

Former state Sen. Tom Weins (R) could join the field of unknowns in Colorado’s Senate race.

Pennsylvania state Sen. Jane Orie (R) will not run in the primary against former Rep. Pat Toomey (R-Pa.).

So, if Sen. Roland Burris (D-Ill.) isn’t running for a full term, why is he raising money?
