DNC to Seat Bloggers with Delegates at Convention
The DNC will seat bloggers with delegates on the floor of the Democratic Convention in August, the Democratic National Convention Committee (DNCC) has announced. Bloggers who cover state and local politics can apply by April 15 to sit on the convention floor with delegates from their states.
“The Internet is the most significant tool for building democracy since the invention of the printing press,” DNC Chairman Howard Dean said in a statement. Dean has been heralded for his online fundraising efforts in the 2004 Democratic primary.
“New local, national and global communities are being formed which demand two-way communication between people and their leaders and the DemConvention State Blogger Corps will be on the frontlines at the 2008 convention to help facilitate this critical dialogue.”
