Rasmussen Poll: Ill. Voters Like Obama, Not Blago

Illinois voters give President-elect Obama soaring approval ratings and Gov. Rod Blagojevich (D) rock-bottom ones in a new Rasmussen poll.

Most Illinois voters — 57 percent — said they strongly approve of the job Obama has been doing as president-elect. Another 21 percent said that they somewhat approve of Obama’s job performance. Just 21 percent say they either strongly or somewhat disapprove.

Blagojevich, who was arrested on corruption charges Tuesday, is seen as doing an excellent job by just 4 percent of voters, a good job by 3 percent and a fair job by 7 percent. A whopping 83 percent believe he’s doing a poor job. And 84 percent believe Blagojevich should resign.

The poll was taken Wednesday.

Most voters — 69 percent — think it’s not very likely or not at all likely that Obama was involved in Blagojevich’s case. But 26 percent said it is likely he was involved.

U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald emphasized that there were no allegations about Obama’s conduct in the criminal complaint against Blagojevich.
