Perino: Coulter Doesn’t Speak for Republican Women

Conservative author Ann Coulter is not representative of Republican women, outgoing White House Press Secretary Dana Perino said Friday.

“Ann Coulter is very popular…but she doesn’t represent Republican women,” Perino told reporters at a Christian Science Monitor breakfast, according to various reports. “There’s room out there to represent the grace and dignity of Republican women like Laura Bush and [former Rep.] Susan Molinari (R-N.Y.).”

She added: “I would never write a book … at someone else’s expense,” an apparent reference to a predecessor Scott McClellan’s critical appraisal of his time in the Bush administration.

Perino said she is considering writing a book, which may include topics such as why Republican women are “misunderstood.”
