Obama Promises Not to Smoke in White House

President-elect Barack Obama hasn’t denied lighting up a few cigarettes in his day, and recently he has wavered over whether in fact he has given up smoking for good. On the grueling campaign he reportedly snagged some smokes from staffers.

Asked on Sunday on “Meet the Press” whether he is done smoking, Obama first responded by saying, “You know, I have.” Then, in the same breath, he told host Tom Brokaw, “You know, there are times where I’ve fallen off the wagon.”

Brokaw called him on the smoking flip flop.

“Well, wait a minute. Then that means you haven’t stopped,” Brokaw said.

Obama seems to have met Brokaw halfway. Obama promised he will not be smoking in the White House — a no-smoking zone.

“I have done a terrific job, under the circumstances, of making myself much healthier. And I think that you will not see any violations of these rules in the White House,” Obama said.
