Chertoff Lauds Napolitano Pick
Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff praised the nomination of Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano (D) to succeed him.
Chertoff said Napolitano was an “excellent choice,” according to MSNBC.
“I have had the good fortune of knowing and working with Governor Janet Napolitano for years, going back to our days as prosecutors,” he added. “She has a tremendous intellect and possesses the leadership and sound judgment needed to make the difficult decisions that this job presents.”
Arizona’s GOP senators, John McCain and Jon Kyl, have also praised President-elect Barack Obama’s decision to include Napolitano in his Cabinet, saying that she’s a border-state governor who understands immigration issues.
