Report: Susan Rice Is Leading Candidate for U.N. Post

Susan Rice, a foreign policy adviser to President-elect Barack Obama during the campaign, is his leading choice to serve as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, according to ABC News.

Rice was a member of the National Security Council and the assistant secretary of State for African Affairs during the Clinton administration. ABC notes that the appointment isn’t a done deal and won’t be announced until after Thanksgiving.

Rice was a frequent surrogate for Obama on television talk shows during the campaign. See video below of Rice arguing on MSNBC for Obama’s policy of direct diplomacy with rogue nations.
