HHS Secretary Sebelius to make public debut at flu event

Newly minted Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius will make her first public appearance as a member of President Obama’s Cabinet Wednesday morning at a briefing to update the public on the government’s response to the swine flu outbreak.

Sebelius, who won Senate confirmation and was sworn in Tuesday evening, provides the Obama administration with an official public face as it works to track the spread of the infectious disease, which claimed its first victim on U.S. soil Tuesday (an infant from Mexico brought to Houston for medical treatment).

Sebelius will meet the press at her department’s headquarters in Washington at 11 a.m.
