Bachmann, Baldwin, and Bean get NBC shout-outs

Three women in Congress got a shout-out from actress Amy Poehler during last night’s episode of NBC mockumentary “Parks and Recreation.”

The show, which features Poehler as a low-ranking government employee in a small-town Indiana city government, called out the first three women in Congress, by alphabetical order.

Poehler’s character is accused of busting open a low-value gift basket for wine, an ethical lapse for which she feels the need to apologize.

Poehler, of course, won plaudits for her impersonation of now-Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton on “Saturday Night Live.”

“Last night, in a foolish attempt to infiltrate a boy’s club, I violated the government employees’ ethics code of the state of Indiana,” Poehler’s character mugs to the camera. “I’ve always tried to live my life in an ethical way, and last night I failed.”

“I realize I have let down every female public official in America, and I would like to apologize to them — right now, individually and in alphabetical order,” she continues. “Michele Bachmann, Republican, Minnesota — I am sorry. Tammy Baldwin, Democrat, Wisconsin — I am so sorry, Tammy. Melissa Bean…”
