Poll: Michelle Obama viewed more favorably than Barack

Stop the presses. First Lady Michelle Obama now appears to have a higher favorability rating than her husband.

A Gallup poll released Thursday shows that she edges the president by three percentage points, a statistically insignificant amount. She also has a lower unfavorable rating.

First ladies are often viewed more favorably than their husbands. First Lady Laura Bush, for example, left the White House with much higher numbers than her husband. This poll marks the first time, though, that the current first lady has scored higher marks than her husband.

Interestingly, the first lady scores twelve points better than her husband among Republicans.

There was a +/- 3 percentage point margin of error in the poll.
