Tauscher in line for State Dept. job: Reports
Rep. Ellen Tauscher (D-Calif.) is under consideration to take a top State Department position under Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, according to reports.
Tauscher, chairwoman of the House Armed Forces Subcommittee on Strategic Forces, is under consideration to become undersecretary of State for weapons and nonproliferation, according to reports by the Associated Press and Washington Post.
Tauscher has been in Congress since 1997, and was an ardent supporter of Secretary Clinton’s campaign for the presidency last year.
Should Tauscher receive the appointment, the 10th congressional district in California she represents in the House would likely remain in Democratic control, given its boundaries and electoral history.
