DeMint Tweets Fairness Doctine Showdown vs. Durbin

Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) and Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) will do battle on the Senate floor today, offering opposing legislation on the so-called “Fairness Doctrine.”

“2 votes on un-Fairness Doctrine today,” DeMint tweeted. “My amend[ment] would ban [the Fairness Doctrine.”

“Sen. Durbin will offer amend[ments] imposing [the Fairness Doctrine] through FCC regulations,” DeMint added.

Just spoke on Senate floor, Durbin now speaking, defending Fairness Doctrine and unwilling to admit the true intent to censor free speech,” DeMint later alleged.

DeMint also tagged the tweet with “#tcot,” a signal for the “top conservatives on twitter.” Many of the conservative activists who top that list are in town today for the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC).
