Many conservatives panned Lousiana Gov. Bobby Jindal’s (R) response to President Obama’s speech last night, but former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R) has always been an iconoclast.
The former Georgia lawmaker praised Jindal’s speech as a possible launching point for a national political profile.
“Bobby Jindal got a good national launch out of last night,” Gingrich tweeted.
“His story is compelling,” he added. “His values appeal to most Americans.”
Many conservative bloggers panned the Jindal response as ineffectual or campy, while House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) offered tepid praise for Jindal today, saying he faced a difficult task.
