House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) has a special, special offer for supporters.
The Speaker, sounding more like a host on the Home Shopping Network, offered an “exclusive commemorative photo of President and First Lady Obama” over the weekend to anyone who’ll pay a mere $25 contribution to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC). Pelosi made the offer to supporters in an e-mail.
The photo shows a smiling first couple dancing at one of last week’s inauguration balls. Embossed on top of spectators is flowing script: “The Inauguration of Barack Obama/ January 20th, 2009.”
The e-mail said supporters need to act by midnight on Saturday.
Obama broke campaign fundraising records throughout the year, and was a boon to the war chests of Senate and House Democrats. He’s also created a new economy; a plethora of commemorative Obama plates, t-shirts, mugs and other items are being sold on the web.
UPDATE: DCCC spokeswoman Jennifer Crider writes to say that Pelosi’s e-mail has already gotten quite a response.
“The extremely positive response to the Speaker’s e-mail speaks to the excitement and optimism Americans across the country are feeling about President Obama and Democrats agenda for change,” Crider said.
