Obama vows to continue providing assistance to Mexico for flu outbreak

In a surprise appearance at a White House townhall with Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis on Friday, President Obama vowed to continue to provide assistance to Mexico as the H1N1 virus continues to spread.

“The H1N1 virus has hit Mexic much more badly than it has hit us so far,” Obama said.

The townhall was the White House’s first that is entirely conducted in Spanish. Obama’s remarks at the beginning of the event before turning the microphone over to Solis were in English.

“I am very proud of this first White House meeting conducted entirely in Spanish,” Obama said.
