Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.) extolled the work that Sen. Robert Byrd (D-W.Va.) has done for her state as chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee.
Landrieu, also a member of the committee, has credited Byrd with helping her secure billions in aid for Louisiana after hurricanes ravaged the state in 2005.
