Sununu makes likely six figures in post-Senate career

Former Sen. John Sununu (R-N.H.) has quickly attained some high-paying jobs since leaving office, perhaps lowering the incentive for the young politician to return to the public sector.

Thanks to Sununu’s seats on three corporate boards, as well as on the board overseeing the distribution of funds in the bailout of the financial industry, Sununu is likely drawing in several hundreds of thousands of dollars in salary, according to an examination by the New Hampshire Union Leader.

Since leaving office in January, the 44-year-old Sununu has joined the boards of Boston Scientific Corp., Time Warner Cable, and ConvergEx Holdings LLC. Boston Scientific and Time Warner compensate their board members in six figures, while it is unknown how ConvergEx, a private company, pays.

According to the Union Leader, Sununu could also reap as much as roughly $70,000 for his work as part of the five-person panel overseeing the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP).
