Kennedy ‘Doing Better,’ Says Son

Rep. Patrick Kennedy (D-R.I.), walking through the House during Sunday’s work session and bailout bill talks, said his father, Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.), is recovering from his brief hospitalization Friday night.

“He’s doing better, thank you,” Kennedy told The Hill.

Kennedy, the only surviving brother of President John F. Kennedy and a senator since 1962, has been battling brain cancer. He was rushed to a Cape Cod hospital Friday after a reaction to a change in his medication, but was later released.

Senate Banking Committee Chairman Chris Dodd (D-Conn.), one of Kennedy’s longest and closest friends in the Senate, has also spoken with Kennedy since Friday and said Kennedy sounds “great,” according to a Democratic source.
