Woman Withdraws Assault Claim Against Rep. Green

A woman who accused Rep. Al Green (D-Texas) of sexual assault has withdrawn her allegations against the congressman, prompting Green to drop a lawsuit alleging the woman had threatened to sue him for workplace discrimination if he did not pay her.

“Congressman Alexander Green and Lucinda Daniels have both resolved and settled their respective disputes without payment, promise or receipt of any money,” lawyers for Green and Daniels said in a joint statement. “They regret any circumstances that created this dispute. They do not wish to pursue any litigation against each other.”

Green’s attorney asked that his suit against Daniele be dismissed after Daniels signed an agreement releasing all claims against Green, the Houston Chronicle reported.

A spokesman for Green had admitted a “romantic encounter” occurred between Green and Daniels in May 2007, but called the allegations of assault false.
