Secretary Presides Over Senate

It’s not easy for anyone to get to work on a Friday during the August recess, including Sen. Blanche Lincoln (D-Ark.).

According to the Associated Press, Lincoln blamed a slow-running clock for her late arrival to the Senate today, which forced Democratic aide Nancy Erickson, who serves as secretary of the Senate, to preside over a brief pro forma session.

And we’re talking brief. Erickson’s short term lasted all of 24 seconds according to the National Association of Manufacturers
