Rove Calls Contempt Vote ‘Ludicrous’
Former White House adviser Karl Rove said Wednesday that a vote by a House panel to hold him in contempt of Congress was “ludicrous.”
The former White House adviser said the House Judiciary Committee is only seeking his testimony because “they are concerned about an issue that is being litigated in court.”
“I have not exerted any personal privilege on this,” Rove said during an interview on Fox News.
“The White House has said we want to stand up for the doctrine of separation of powers and for the right of the president to not have his aides and former aides called up at the convenience of the Congress for no good reason at all.”
Following the vote Wednesday, House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers (D-Mich.) said “our investigation has revealed Mr. Rove to be a key figure in the firings of US Attorneys, and the questions about his role in the Siegelman case only continue to mount.”
