Rep. Sanchez: Rove Should Go to Jail
Rep. Linda Sanchez (D-Calif.) thinks former White House adviser Karl Rove should go to jail after ignoring a subpoena seeking his appearance at a House Judiciary Committee hearing Thursday.
Asked on MSNBC if Rove should go to jail if he continues to not cooperate with the House panel’s investigation, Sanchez said, “I personally believe, yes, absolutely. Anybody who scoffs at the law and who has committed an offense that is punishable by jail time should be put in jail.”
“I would like to see him held accountable for his complete disregard of the law absolutely,” Sanchez said.
Sanchez also said that Congress would support a vote to hold Rove in contempt of Congress. “I think if it goes to the full House there is a very great probability that yes, they would hold Karl Rove in contempt,” Sanchez said.
House Judiciary Committee Chairman called Rove’s absence Thursday “an insult.” Conyers too hinted at further legal action against Rove, saying “I will seriously consider all available options to obtain Mr. Rove
