McDermott Pays Boehner $1.1 Million

The decade-long legal dispute between Reps. Jim McDermott (D-Wash.) and John Boehner (R-Ohio) over a taped phone call is finally over after McDermott paid out the court-stipulated $1,093,297 in legal fees, AP is reporting.

Earlier this month, a judge ruled McDermott owed Boehner legal fees resulting from the extended litigation stemming from a 1996 incident during which McDermott leaked a taped phone conversation involving Republican congressmen discussing an ethics case pending against then-Speaker Newt Gingrich.
