House Dem calls Limbaugh a ‘buffoon’ for Nazi comparison

A member of Congress is outraged at conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh’s latest screed comparing the Democratic Party to the World War II era Nazi Party in Germany. He also demanded that his “Republican colleagues” also reject Limbaugh’s comments.

Rep. Steve Israel (D-N.Y.) said in a release on Thursday night that Limbaugh is a “buffoon” and has “no right to compare any Americans to Nazis who exterminated 6 million Jews.”

On Thursday’s show, Limbaugh asked “now what are the similarities between the Democrat Party of today and the Nazi Party in Germany?”

He answered that the Nazis, like the Democrats, were against big business, “and course we all know they were opposed to Jewish capitalism.”

“They were for abortion and euthanasia of the undesirables as we all know,” Limbaugh continued. “It is liberalism that’s the closest you can get to Nazism.”

“I do expect my Republican colleagues to denounce his comments. The Holocaust taught us that silence in the face of evil expression becomes acquiescence to evil. And what Limbaugh said is pure evil,” Israel, who is Jewish, responded.

“Today, there are survivors of the Holocaust with tattoos stenciled on their arms who are registered Democrats. And he’s treated them with vile contempt,” he added.

Israel is currently serving his fifth term and is founder of the Institute on the Holocaust and the Law.
